Garden Centre Catering Awards entries close today!
The deadline is fast approaching – you have until the end of September to enter across four categories.
The Garden Centre Catering Awards, which celebrate the fantastic food, ethics and ethos of garden centres across the country, are back for 2024. However, you’ll need to be quick if you want to be in with a chance of winning this year!
Once again, we will be rewarding the leading operators across four categories: Independent Garden Centre Caterer of the Year, Group Garden Centre Caterer of the Year, Afternoon Tea of the Year and the Sustainability Award. It is absolutely free to enter and multiple categories can be submitted – but be warned, the deadline is 27th September.
The winners will not only will receive their trophy and a great boost to their businesses, attracting more customers and recognising staff members’ efforts, but we will also visit their centres throughout the next year. This will start with our next issue when we will also announce and profile all of the worthy winners.
'Everyone wants to be an award-winner'
The victorious businesses from 2023 included Bosworth Garden Company in Burton Latimer, Northamptonshire, who prevailed in the Garden Centre Caterer of the Year category. When we visited recently, business catering manager Wayne Leggett told us: “It was fantastic. Everyone wants to be an award-winner and be recognised. I’m not one for wanting to be put at a higher level than anyone else – but it’s nice when people recognise what you are doing.”

In our most we recent issue we profile St Peter’s Garden Centre in Broomhill, Worcester, who deservedly claimed Afternoon Tea of the Year. Robert Banks, who is head of hospitality and catering, said: “It’s important. Previously, when I was a chef, I would look through Michelin Guides and look for rosettes. So we enter the awards to get recognition, but I also think it’s important for the team. “One of our values is about achievement and winning the Afternoon Tea award was a huge achievement for the team and the department. It was great to celebrate that with the rest of the workforce and the company, and the owners were so happy that it put us on the map in terms of afternoon tea. We were all extremely chuffed.” |
