The Bosworth Garden Company wins the Group Award

With two garden centres in Burton Latimer and Elton, as well as a landscaping business, the Bosworth Garden Company is the winner of the Group Garden Centre Caterer of the Year Award

The Winner of the Group Garden Centre Caterer of the Year Award, 2023, is Bosworth’s Garden Company, Burton Latimer, Northants, which was first established in 1959 and is an independent multi-site business that now comprises two garden centres and a landscaping company.. It  grows a large proportion of the plants that it sell, and it specialises in the creation of colourful, seasonal displays of plants in pots and containers, as well as growing a huge range of permanent garden plants.

It also has two garden centres. The first is located in Burton Latimer, which is three miles outside Kettering. There, visitors will find a large selection of house and garden plants, as well as furniture, giftware, garden essentials, pots and stoneware, all of which are further complemented at this time of year by a covetable range of Christmas decorations.

The Burton Latimer Garden Centre is also home to the Aspen Café (pictured above), which, with its cosy and inviting atmosphere, offers customers a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Open for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea and offering full table service, it has a comprehensive breakfast menu that is designed to satisfy the appetites of both hearty eaters and those seeking a more modest, but equally delicious first meal of the day option. The lunchtime menu is equally varied and, as well as offering a wide selection of cakes, sweet treats and hot and cold drinks, which are always available, customers can also book to enjoy a special afternoon tea, selecting from either the savoury or sweet option.

Bosworth Garden Company’s second garden centre at Elton, which is located on the Cambridge/Northants border, enjoys a more rural location, but also offers the same relaxed and welcoming ambience that has become the company's hallmark. Managed by Bosworth’s since May 2018, the Elton site offers a wide range of plants grown in the gardens of Elton Hall and is surrounded by mature trees. The kitchen garden provides most of the fresh fruit and vegetables served in the centre’s Mulberry Café (pictured above), where diners can select from a similarly comprehensive breakfast menu as that served at the Aspen Café, plus a more extensive lunchtime selection that  includes the usual salads, soup and sandwiches, plus a delicious range of lighter bites, like pear stilton and walnut salad, with main dishes including Katsu Chicken Curry and a sumptuous fish platter.

Each of the two centres maintains its own distinct character and offers visitors a different experience, but the warmth of the welcome, attention to detail and quality of the food are common to both, making it the well-deserved winner of the Group award.

Garden Centre Catering extends its warmest congratulations to Boworth Garden Company's two catering teams.

The Bosworth Garden Centre and its two cafes will feature in the Spring issue of Garden Centre Catering
