The Garden Centre Association (GCA) will be celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2026 and has unveiled a commemorative logo for members to use especially. The industry body will officially mark its birthday at its annual conference, which will be held in January.

One of the first decisions the GCA made, at inception, was to set up an inspection scheme for members, which still take place annually today. Members with the highest standards now receive awards at its regional summer events and the annual conference.

'Super early pioneers'
Peter Burks, chief executive of the GCA, said: “We have several members who have been involved with our organisation for 40 to 60 years – including some of the nation’s oldest known garden centres like Stewarts Christchurch, which is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year. We’re calling for member centres to share their stories and images from when they launched, and to find out which other businesses were super early pioneers of the garden centre concept.”

Anyone interested in being part of the GCA’s 60th anniversary social media and press release activity is invited to contact Burks at [email protected].
