Latest BoT figures show further increases

All 13 categories logged saw a positive increase when compared to April 2024.

The Garden Centre Association’s (GCA) Barometer of Trade (BoT) figures for April 2025 have revealed that its members enjoyed another positive month, boasting a year-to-date increase that is now at 12.28%. Data from GCA garden centres showed that all 13 categories logged saw a positive increase when compared to April 2024.

'Another wonderful set of figures'
Peter Burks, chief executive of the GCA, said: “After March’s buoyant statistics, it’s great to report another wonderful set of figures for April. They confirm all that we are seeing in members’ garden centres on the shop floor.

“Once again, every category showed a positive increase in the month when compared to last year, and it is great that plants and gardening are continuing to be strong, with outdoor plant sales easily the biggest category financially. It is also good to see customers are still shopping in all departments too, including food and catering. Long may this continue!”

The good weather, including a warm Easter weekend, helped boost furniture and barbecue sales to a 42.27% increase. The food hall/farm shop category was up by 16.92%, catering by 7.92%.
